Why do liberals confuse Federal Government Jobs with Local and State Gov Jobs?
Teachers are state and local jobs.
Fireman and Police are state and local jobs
Roads and Infrastructure are private jobs not federal jobs even though they may be paid with some federal dollars.
The federal government should have no hand in paying for these jobs anyways. The states can tax and spend without the federal redistribution of funds.
Roberto I said that if you read the question. The explosion of Federal employees does not include them.
They are private sector employees.
Politicians make no distinction to mislead their moronic constituency. They fall for it every time.

Can someone enumerate for me the types of local and state government jobs?
I'm currently writing a story in which one of my semi-minor characters has a career in government. I and trying to decide if it is local - as in city or county - or if it is state. Anyhow, could someone please list the types of government jobs, both local and state, or pinpoint me to one on the internet? I am looking for something a little more complex than your typical mayor office. I had thought of treasurer, but I just would like to know the names of other such jobs out there. Thank you in advance.
Government jobs are way to numerous to list. You may have to do much research on this. I would start at the local level and go from there, GL.

For government jobs, I mean work for major department (environmental pretection department, health department, etc. Not including post office jobs). I found that most of federal jobs need US citizenship, but not sure if state and local government jobs require the same.

I am interviewing for a local government job on the Council as a Clerk, any advice?
I have never interviewed for a government job before and I have an interview for the council as an entry level clerk.
Anyone have any advice to prepare for the interview?
In the UK, when you go for a job like this, you would already have a detailed description of what the job involves, and also a an employee specification, where they list the essential criteria for candidates who are successful.
Good news is- they think you can do it! Otherwise they would not have invited you for interview.
For the interview, look at all the information you've been sent, and also at the application you made.
Think about what's most important in order to do this job well- it might be good office IT skills, attention to detail, an understanding of how confidential data should be handled, being able to concentrate on finishing a task to a high standard but also being able to met the deadline, being able to understand and follow specific instructions, ability to work as a team with colleagues, etc.
Think carefully about how you can demonstrate you have these skills- for example, you can prove your ability to meet a deadline through your educational achievements( getting your work in on time etc) or previous jobs. As this is an entry level job, you don't have to appear like some kind of genius!
It's also good to have an understanding of what your local government department does- local governments have many different departments specialising in handling different things, everything from collecting garbage to caring for children.
You should also show a basic awareness of how your local government fits in with the country-wide political set-up. So in the UK, local government services are paid for both by local tax-payers and central government, and local people vote for Councillors to represent their views on how the money should be spent. This means your wages are paid through taxes and therefore you are accountable to the public.
Find out as much as you can about what your local government department does, think about what examples you can give from your previous work and education to prove you're capable, and you'll be successful.
Can a local government job with guaranteed benefit deny me healthcare if I become a full time employee?
Just curious about how that works, especially when health care is supposed to be a part of the package which makes up for low wages.
Sure they can deny you if you have a pre existing condition or fail to make your payments
how do i bid on state and government jobs in indiana without fees?
I am employed for a company that installs heating and cooling, electric, and we do roofing
We are looking to get work from the state and local government. What free site has these jobs posted to the public so we can bid on them?
There are no fees to bid on government contracts.
RFPs (Requests for Proposals) are advertised in the local newspapers.
They may also be on the websites of the relevant government agencies.

What are the best government jobs to get into local, state, or federal, right now?
It does not really matter,,,,any state or federal job will pay twice as much as the private sector and you will get 4 times the benefits. You will get cost of living raises and merit pay raise and all the overtime you want.
In California the taxpayers have to guarantee your pension plan, so there is absolutely no risk.
Then there is the public employee labor union will not allow you to get fired and some even get tenyor.
Plus you get to retire with fully paid benefits at the age of 55.
All on the backs of the private sector non-union employee.
